'Lock-Down' Inspired Watercolours

Since March 29th I have been using my daily 2km then subsequently 5km permitted walk to make a visual record of my neighbourhood under 'lock-down'. Luckily for me, my house and studio lie in the picturesque and historic town of Dalkey Co. Dublin, known for its many medieval castles, grand Victorian architecture, and superb coastal vistas overlooking Dublin and Killiney Bays. Using both sketchbook drawings done 'en plein air' and photography, I make my personal selection of local landmarks at the perfect moment and then return to my garden studio to produce the finished paintings in watercolour.

I began sharing my daily paintings on Facebook, Instagram, and the Dalkey online community forum. Local and international interest in these works has been so overwhelming that I have now decided to frame and exhibit the work so that Dalkey residents can enjoy them whilst lock-down continues. Jamie Gill of Gill's Opticians on St Patrick's Road, Dalkey has generously agreed to hang a selection of works in his windows; the paintings will change every couple of days - so watch that space!

Original watercolours are priced from €1600 (inc frame). I have also decided to make smaller, limited-edition giclée prints of seven of the paintings, priced at €250 each (unframed). Framing can be easily arranged through Barry's Framing Workshop in Dalkey.
